The Open Co-op

The Open Co-op was founded in 2004 with the purpose of “building a world-wide community of individuals and organisations committed to the creation of a collaborative, sustainable economy”.

The idea was to help people collaborate and co-operate on a global scale by using a new software platform which we called PlaNet. You can see what we thought this might have looked like from the screenshots of PlaNet we developed in 2004.

We recently updated our vision for PLANET as an open source operating system and ran the OPEN 2017 Platform Co-ops conference at Goldsmiths University in London in February 2017. Sign up to our newsletter via to be kept up to date about future events.
